Initial Configuration: Setting Up a Google Merchant Channel
This article will explain the steps required to create a Google Merchant Channel inside the PIM.
Step 1: Create Google Merchant Channel
From within the PIM, navigate to the Channels menu by locating the “Configuration” section on the left hand side, selecting it and scrolling down to “Channels”.
Next, click Create Channel in the upper right hand corner.
Step 2: Name your Channel
Select a distinctive name for your Google Merchant Channel and choose “GoogleMerchant” from the type drop down.
Click “Create” and then retrieve your Merchant ID and your Credentials. The instructions for this can be found here.
Step 3: Set up Details for the created Channel
Copy your Google Merchant ID and upload the json file generated from the Google Merchant Center. Also fill in the required field as displayed in the table below:
Channel Details | Description |
---|---|
Name | The name you want to give to this channel. Choose a unique and meaningful name. |
Inventory Location | Specify the product inventory that should be used by the channel. If you want to use inventory levels from multiple locations, just inform each location separated by a comma, like "US, Canada". This will push the sum of the quantities in the "US" and in the "Canada" locations. |
Version | The version of the content that should be pushed to the store. If the content on the version is empty, it will use the "master" version. |
Price Base | Specify the base product price record that should be used by the Channel. This is a mandatory field and has to be setup even if you wish to sell products without prices. |
Base category | Specify the root of the category tree used by the channel. Once the store is configured the value for this field cannot be changed. |
Step 4: Select values for Google Options
You can also map specific Google fields to PIM attributes or options by using these following fields:
Size
Color
Material
Pattern
Age Group
Gender
