New Digital Asset Manager (DAM)

Introduction

The Jasper asset manager feature allows you to manage your digital content on a product, brand or category level. The Jasper PIM old asset management tool was specific to products, hence one asset could only be tied to one product.

However, the new asset manager has its own section called “Asset Manager”, where you can manage assets without having to tie them to any specific products. The new DAM gives you control to do the following actions:

  • Display all the assets in a single screen

  • Access and display products and the assets without leaving the Asset Management Screen

  • Perform batch actions on the assets

  • Perform transformations on the assets to make specific changes required by channels

  • Supports versions for the assets

  • Supports folder/ subfolder structure for the assets

  • Link assets to chosen products, brands, categories form the Asset Management screen

Enable the Digital Asset Management Tool

If you have the new DAM feature support on your existing tier, you can go to the Users > Roles on the left side navigation menu to turn this feature on. You can give different levels of access for the DAM based on user’s roles. Here are the following permissions:

  • Digital Asset Management- Edit

  • Digital Asset Management- Delete

  • Digital Asset Management- View

Asset Manager Menu

The Asset Manager Menu can be found under the Configuration portion of the left side navigation menu. From there you will see the following two options:

  1. Assets: This displays a list of all the assets imported and stored into the PIM.

  2. Products: This displays a list of all the products inside the PIM and the assets attached to each product.

Assets

In this section, you can see a list of all your folders and assets. All the assets will be stored in the root folder by default. So, if you add any new assets it will be automatically added to the root folder, however, you can create subfolders to manage your assets in multiple folders based on your organizational needs.

Folders

You can use folders to store and organize assets in multiple folders. If no new subfolder is created all the assets will be automatically stored inside the root folder. From here you have access to the following information:

  • Create Folder

  • View Folder

  • Delete Folder

On clicking on View Folder, you can do the followings:

  • Add Assets from file

  • Bulk upload from file

  • Create a new subfolder inside the existing folder

Every new subfolder that gets created under a folder will be the child of that existing parent folder.

You can access all the linked items to the asset from this screen and assign the asset to selected products, brands, or categories. You cam also choose to save the asset as thumbnail (main image) and save the changes by clicking on Attach Selected buttons. These are the fields available:

  • Add Link

    • Brands

    • Products

    • Categories

  • Select Products/Brands/Categories

  • Save as thumbnail

  • Attach Selected

The Linked Items tab allows you to assign assets to different products, brands, or categories all on the same screen without having to toggle between multiple screens.

Versions Tab

You can store different versions of the asset from this screen. For instance, this might be useful if you you want to overlay a similar version of the same image, but with a banner top or a specific text annotation on the asset. To do so, you need to upload a new file and select New Version from file to save the new image. The newly uploaded file will be saved with the master version. And the existing image will appear as a linked version. You can choose to assign a different version of that asset as Master by setting that version as Master (Set as Master Button).

You can also choose to set a version of an asset as Private by selecting the Private box. This way that image will not get published to any channels and will be stored only inside the PIM.

Transformations Tab

You can do the following transformations on the assets to be able to resize or make specific changes to your assets to be able to syndicate them to your available channels.

  • Compress

  • Resize

  • Crop
